Hi guys! For today I prepared a tiny interview with a friend, Timea, who makes lots of awesome accessories by herself. I find it really interesting and I thought I should share this with you. To see what it's all about, check the pictures, and see the interview to get to know her better!

When did you start doing these handmade designs?
Honestly I can’t really recall the first time I started handmade designing.. I’ve always had a somewhat artistic side and if you add that to a child’s natural curiosity, I guess handmade designing came to fulfill the need to express my creativity, my feelings and my thoughts, all that between painting, dancing and theatre classes. Unfortunately I never managed to develop my artistic side to the fullest, but handmade designing stuck with me and became my favorite hobby .
1. Cand ai inceput sa faci toate astea?
Sincer, nu îmi amintesc exact
prima dată când am început să creez lucruşoare handmade.. Întotdeauna am fost
oarecum înclinată spre partea artistică, iar dacă adaugi asta la curiozitatea atât de tipică
vârstei copilăriei, cred că handmade designingul a apărut din nevoia de a-mi exprima creativitatea,
emoţiile şi gândurile, toate astea între ore de pictură, dans şi teatru. Din
păcate nu am reuşit niciodată să îmi dezvolt partea artistică la maxim, dar de
handmade designing nu am scăpat nici până în ziua de azi, devenind între timp hobby-ul meu preferat.

What’s the story behind this hobby?
As a child I used to spend all my summers at my granny’s house, which happened to be a seamstress and that was where and when I got hopelessly mesmerized by the idea of designing my own clothes and accessories, that would set me apart from others and that would reflect my own personal style.

Care e povestea din spatele acestui hobby?
Copil fiind mi-am petrecut toate
verile la casa bunicii mele, care se întâmpla să fie chiar croitoreasă şi acela
cred că a fost momentul în care am rămas iremediabil fascinată de ideea de a-mi concepe propriile haine şi
accesorii, care să mă deosebească de alţii şi care să-mi reflecte stilul
personal.
3. Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get inspired by pretty much every little thing that surrounds me. Mostly by nature - I have a huge obsession with shells, by colors, by unknown faces in the crowd … For example sometimes when I see a face I begin to associate it with a color / a pattern/an object and ideas just pop up in my head and then I feel the urge of shaping them into something clear. That’s how pretty much all of my crafts were born.

De unde te inspiri?
Mă inspiră aproape tot ceea ce mă
înconjoară. Mai ales natura - am o adevarată obsesie în ceea ce priveşte
cochiliile , culorile, chipurile necunoscute din mulţime.. De exemplu de
fiecare dată când văd o faţă nouă încep să o asociez cu o culoare/ un model/ un
obiect şi dintr-o dată încep să-mi răsară o mulţime de idei şi apoi simt nevoia
acută de a ceda impulsului de a le modela în ceva concret. Aşa au şi prins
viaţă de fapt cele mai multe din creaţiile mele.
4. How long does it take to make one?
Usually from a couple of hours to a couple of days. I did some collar necklaces that took like one week, but that’s because it was a meticulous job, that involved lots of beading and my hands hurt after a while.. J
4. Cat iti ia sa faci un obiect?
De obicei durează de la câteva ore la câteva zile.
Am făcut însa unele coliere de tipul gulerelor, care mi-au luat în jur de o
săptămână , dar asta pentru că a fost vorba de o treabă minuţioasă, care a
presupus o ornamentaţie bogată în mărgeluţe şi după o vreme simţeam cum îmi
amorţesc mâinile.. J
5. How much does it cost to make one?
Well that depends on what materials I use. I usually work with felt and beads which are quite affordable. Also I try to recycle things, like leather. Or another good idea for really cheap decorations is to use things Mother Nature offers you, like shells, rocks, pine cones, different types of seeds and so on..
5. Si..cat te costa?
Asta depinde desigur de materialele pe care le
folosesc. De obicei folosesc fetru şi mărgele, pe care le găseşti la preţuri
destul de accesibile. De câte ori se poate încerc să reciclez materiale, cum ar
fi pielea. Sau o idee foarte buna pentru decoraţii ieftine ar fi să foloseşti
tot ceea ce Mama Natura iţi oferă, cum ar fi scoici, pietricele, conuri de
brad, diferite tipuri de seminţe etc.
6. Do you have any sewing/design background? Do you think it is necessary to have one in order to make things like these?
I don’t have any sewing/designing background, well none apart from what I already mentioned and I most certainly don’t believe it’s necessary to have one in order to make handmade crafts! All you need is a fair amount of imagination, hard-working hands and a beautiful spirit. J
6. Ai ceva studii sau experienta in domeniul
design? Consideri ca e necesar sa ai anumite cunostinte ca sa poti face asta?
Nu, nu am un trecut în ceea ce
priveşte cusutul/ designul, cel puţin nimic înafara a ceea ce am menţionat deja
şi cu siguranţă nu cred că e nevoie de unul ca să realizezi lucruşoare
handmade! Oricine poate s-o facă,tot ceea ce ai nevoie e o doză bună de imaginaţie, mâini harnice şi un suflet frumos. J
7. Do you need a sewing machine, or you do all
the stitches by hand?
I
prefer to make all the stitches by hand, after all that’s why they are called
handmade designs hehe but occasionally I did use a sewing machine, when I tried
doing some larger things, like bags.
7. Ai nevoie de masina de cusut, sau faci
totul manual?
Prefer să realizez toate
cusăturile de mână, până la urmă de aceea se şi numeşte handmade designing hehe, dar ocazional am mai folosit şi maşina
de cusut, când am încercat să fac lucruri mai complexe , de genul genţilor.
8. You told me it’s something you do for pleasure, but have you ever thought about starting a business out of it?
Every single day ! But I never seem to have enough time or maybe it’s better if I say courage, to actually put up a small online shop. I mostly make things for my friends, for myself and most of all for pleasure.
8. Mi-ai spus ca e ceva ce faci de placer, dart
e-ai gandit vreodata sa faci o afacere din treaba asta?
În fiecare zi! Dar se pare că
niciodată nu am suficient timp sau poate aş fi mai sinceră dacă aş zice curaj,
de a pune în sfârşit pe picioare un magazin online.
9. Which is your favourite creation? Why?
Hmm
every little single design I made was my favourite at some point but if I would
have to choose one I think it would be an owl brooch made out of leather bands
and faux leather fabric, simply because
I’m a huge owl lover. J
9. Care e creatia ta preferata? Si de ce?
Hmm cred că fiecare design în
parte a fost creaţia mea preferată la un moment dat, dar dacă ar trebui să aleg
una cred că ar fi o broşă bufniţă realizată din şnururi de piele şi înlocuitor
de piele, asta doar pentru că sunt pur şi simplu îndrăgostită de ele. J
